Direct Peptide Reactivity Assay (DPRA) is an in chemico test method that models the first key event of the Adverse Outcome Pathway for skin sensitization (AOP) – haptenation with proteins. This is an electrophilic reaction and is assessed by measuring the reactivity of the compound with synthetic peptides containing either cysteine or lysine. The DPRA is performed in accordance with the OECD Guidance Document OECD 442C and is one of three tests (KeratinoSensTM, h-CLAT) developed to contribute to the assessment of chemicals for their potential to cause skin sensitization.
